Richard’s Dad: Hardcore Survivalist

Early in the show, Howard asked Richard about his father’s survivalist tendencies– tendencies now lost on Richard: “I’ve softened up a lot since I moved away from Kansas.” Howard thought the skills were still in Richard’s blood, but Richard doubted he still had the stomach for noodling, a barehanded way of catching catfish: “I knew people that had their fingers missing because they went noodling and got bit by a snapping turtle.”
