Reading over news that NBC had to cut some ‘Tonight Show’ staff for budget reasons, Howard interpreted: “Jay Leno is a scumbag, that’s what it means. He’s a spineless maggot. Jay wanted to cut staff, he’s embarrassed to do it. He didn’t want to come off like a bad guy so NBC took the hit for him. Because, you know, it’s just a corporation. … They didn’t cut any budget. ‘The Tonight Show’ makes plenty of money.”
