Howard mourned the death of former NYC Mayor Ed Koch: “He turned chaos into order, and rarely will you ever find a public servant as devoted as Mayor Koch. He used to walk down the street and say to the people, ‘How am I doing?'” Further, Koch was a kindred spirit: “He was a humorist, he was a bright guy, he was into the job.”

He was also a Ben Stern look-a-like: “[Dad] would walk down the street and people would say, ‘Good job, Mr. Mayor!”
