James Franco Gets Candid About ‘Spring Breakers’ Threesome

Hollywood star James Franco came in to promote his new movie “Spring Breakers” which, according to early reviews, sounds like a pretty wild film. A scene everybody is already talking about features a threesome between James and his co-stars Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Benson. As hot as that scenario might sound, no one involved got all too hot and bothered.

James explained the scene was shot in a pool and once the director yells “action” you have to “just go for it.” But at the end of the day, James said everyone on set is aware it’s just acting.

Howard heard the girls were also a bit uncomfortable because James, who plays a drug-addicted rapper, stayed in character the whole time, even off the set.

James, however, took exception to that assessment. “I read books the whole time! How is that in character?!” he told Howard with a laugh.

Playing It Straight at the Oscars

Howard wanted to get to the bottom of what happened during the controversial 2011 Academy Awards which James Franco co-hosted with Anne Hathaway.

James offered a simple explanation. “Anne is big and her bits called for her to be big,” he told Howard Monday morning. “I’ve learned from doing buddy comedy movies, though, that you need a straight man to go along with the wild person.”

James decided early on that he would be the straight man to Anne’s wild woman, but the tactic got James in hot water after people accused him of abandoning Anne on stage. The night was so stressful for Franco that, after he left L.A. to get back to for a class at Yale University (still in his tuxedo), he developed a hemorrhoid. He told Howard he the next week holed up in a New Haven hotel, nursing both his ego and his inflamed nether region.
