Stern Show staffer proceeds to thrash wildly in 4 feet of water
In 2006, JD Harmeyer took his first trip outside of the U.S. to Hedonism III in Jamaica. In addition to soaking up some sun, the Stern Show staffer took a turn on the resort’s water slide leading to a celebrated piece of video that has entertained fans for years since.
“Howard, this may be the funniest video I’ve ever seen,” Richard Christy attested when the clip surfaced later that year.
In it, JD can be seen clumsily tumbling down the slide into 4 feet of water before tossing around wildly in the pool and gasping for air.
“He’s drowning and the water’s up to his knees,” Howard described with a laugh upon seeing it.
Considering the pool was so shallow, Robin Quivers was baffled. “Why didn’t you stand up?” she asked.
JD explained he was going down the slide and couldn’t see the end so he panicked a bit. “First of all, I’m not that good of a swimmer,” he said. “Second of all, I can’t see too well without my glasses.”
“When you go down a water slide, don’t you expect to be in water eventually?” Howard asked.
JD insisted his inability to see the end of the slide left him unsettled. “I couldn’t find my balance,” he concluded.
