VIDEO: Sal Governale Sings a Bing Crosby Classic at Del Mar Racetrack
“I think I nailed it,” the Stern Show staffer says of his performance

Stern Show staffer Sal Governale recently sung his heart out
in front of a crowd of thousands at Southern California’s Del Mar Racetrack and
on Tuesday he told Howard he’s very pleased with his performance of “Where the Turf Meets the Surf.”
“This song that I sung
is a traditional song sung at the racetrack,” Sal explained. The tune was first
made famous by Bing Crosby, a founding partner of the Del Mar Racetrack. But
while Bing and countless others have belted out the song throughout the years,
Sal claimed many of the track’s staff approached him to say his performance of the standard was perhaps the best they’d ever seen.
“I had done one of the best performances for the Del Mar racetrack
ever in the history of Del Mar,” Sal told Howard.
Howard was less impressed after listening to audio of Sal’s
singing and couldn’t help but laugh to hear how seriously he took the
performance.
“I was trying to emulate Bing Crosby a little bit. I think I
nailed it,” Sal said.
“I think he’s upside down in his grave,” Robin Quivers joked.
