Country music supergroup the Highwomen came together in the Stern Show studio recently for a special performance of Fleetwood Mac’s folk-rock classic “The Chain.” All four members of the Highwomen – Brandi Carlile, Natalie Hemby, Maren Morris, and Amanda Shires – impart their own powerful vocals to the rendition along with toe-tapping guitar stylings from Jason Isbell, Phil Hanseroth, and Tim Hanseroth.

Their cover can also be heard inside of the trailer for the upcoming film “The Kitchen,” starring Melissa McCarthy, Tiffany Haddish, and Elisabeth Moss.

Though they’ve each been long performing live in their solo careers, the Highwomen made their live concert debut together at last month’s Newport Folk Festival. Fans can now look forward to the group’s self-titled debut studio album, due out Sept. 6, with songs written by Carlile, Hemby, Morris, Shires, Isbell, the Hanseroth twins, Rodney Clawson, Lori McKenna, Miranda Lambert, and Ray LaMontagne, among many others.

Before leaving the Stern Show studio, the Highwomen also performed “Redesigning Women,” one of the tracks off the new record. Check out the video of their performance (below).
