“I’m an optimist,” the Stern Show regular tells Howard

For the second time in less than a month, Stern Show favorite Dr. David Agus returned to answer all of Howard’s coronavirus-related questions. The good doctor also educated listeners about the scientific community’s three-pronged approach to battling the virus which includes developing not only better COVID-19 treatments and tests but also potentially a vaccine.

Dr. Agus’s prognosis was ultimately a hopeful one. “Over the next couple weeks we’re going to start to see declines because we’re fighting back,” he told Howard and co-host Robin Quivers on Tuesday, though he also admitted the situation will probably get a little worse in the short term before it plateaus and then eventually gets better.

“When we see this country open in May, it’s going to be said everybody needs to wear a mask when they go out,” Dr. Agus continued, explaining face masks help prevent the spread of potentially harmful “droplets” of breath from people infected by the virus.

Howard was shocked his guest believed America might begin to rebound so quickly. “So, you think the country is going to get back up on its feet in May?” he asked.

“I have faith in all of us that we’re going to do the right thing to get to where we need to be. I’m an optimist. I really am,” Dr. Agus assured him.
