Steve Nowicki the guitarist is in high demand. On Tuesday the Stern Show staffer and Tuchus founding member recounted to Howard about how he recently took the stage with 90s alt rock darlings Dinosaur Jr. “J Mascis is a huge fan of yours,” Nowicki told Howard of how he landed on the radar of the band’s lead singer and primary songwriter. “He was doing this show in Brooklyn and [he said] he’d love to have me come on for a couple of songs.”

In addition to playing one of their biggest hits, “Feel the Pain,” Steve also joined the band on “Mountain Man” off their debut album, “Dinosaur.” “It was J’s idea and it’s like the perfect song for me … it’s just all shred fuckin’ thrash,” Nowicki said. “The amp smelled like it was burning like there was all this smoke coming out of it — it was so crazy.”

But for anyone worried about what this means for Nowicki’s future playing with Howard and Richard Christy, rest assured. “I take Tuchus very seriously,” he insisted. “Tuchus is my band, it’s my musical outlet, and we will play a show.”
