Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Kimmel’s late night rivalry looks to be over before it even began. The soon-to-be “Late Show” host told Howard on Tuesday morning that he’s already booked Kimmel as a guest on his CBS program.

“[Jimmy’s] going to be on our show,” Colbert said. “Nobody knows that. That’s an exclusive.”

This fall, Jimmy will once again be taking his show “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” on the road, broadcasting from Brooklyn for one week. According to Colbert, Jimmy has promised to cross the river and pay his competition a visit.

So when will Howard be coming back on the “Late Show?” Not before he does his good pal Jimmy K.’s show again.

“Jimmy Kimmel, I promised him that I would do his show next,” Howard told Colbert. Howard plans to make good on that promise while Jimmy’s in New York.

CBS late night exec Vinnie Favale, who was in-studio for the end of Colbert’s interview, suggested that Howard come on the “Late Show” to promote his appearance on Kimmel with Kimmel.

“Oh that’s hilarious!” Colbert exclaimed.

Colbert has already done Jimmy’s show, appearing alongside Jon Stewart on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” back in 2012 (pictured above.)
