Melissa McCarthy’s upcoming comedy “The Boss” proves there’s a fine line between entrepreneurial genius and batshit crazy. McCarthy’s megalomaniacal character Michelle Darnell is a walking HR violation waiting to happen—she drinks, she swears, she even clotheslines a preteen girl while on the job. But there are lessons to be learned from her managerial style: Basically, don’t do anything Michelle does.

Here are nine GIFs of what NOT to do when you’re the boss. And for more examples, be sure to see Melissa McCarthy in The Boss” on April 8.

1. A boss must never speak disparagingly of a subordinate’s spouse …

2. Touching your employees anywhere is ill-advised; touching their breasts is downright illegal …

3. A motivated sales team is important, but customers are less likely to buy your product after they’re physically threatened …

4. Drinking on the job is rarely acceptable and giving booze to minors is never okay …

5. A boss must always respect a co-worker’s personal space and property …

6. Even when dealing with stiff competition, violence is never the answer …

7. Avoid asking inappropriate questions about your employees’ private lives …

8. Boasting about your financial success reflects poorly on you as a manager …

9. Insider trading is a federal crime and will likely lead to fines, penalties, and incarceration …
