Hit ‘Em With the Hein Cover of DC Comics’ ‘Suicide Squad’ Available Now
"It has energy to it," artist and Stern Show superfan Jim Lee says about the popular catchphrase
August 22, 2016UPDATE (Oct. 12, 2016): Comic stores everywhere are getting hit with the Hein on Wednesday. The special “Suicide Squad #4” issue is now on sale, complete with Harley Quinn, front and center, wearing a T-shirt with the uber-popular Stern Show slogan Hit ‘Em With the Hein displayed across it.
DC comics told the Stern Show this week that this is not a variant cover – this will be the standard cover for the issue, available online and at retail outlets worldwide. Artist Jim Lee (seen above) explained on the Wrap Up Show why he worked the catchphrase onto the cover.
“It has energy to it, it can be used in multiple ways,” Jim told Wrap Up Show hosts Gary Dell’Abate and Jon Hein – Jon being the namesake of the phrase. Jon admitted on air that Hit ‘Em With the Hein shout-outs do not bother him, so long as the intentions of the person using the phrase are good. There’s no doubt Jim Lee, a longtime Howard Stern superfan, has nothing but good intentions with this comic masterpiece.

UPDATE (Aug. 19, 2016): Jim Lee has posted the inked and colored “Suicide Squad #4” cover (below), featuring Harley Quinn wearing a Hit ‘Em With the Hein tee. According to Lee’s Instagram post, the DC Comics release hits stores in mid-October.
PREVIOUSLY (Aug. 1, 2016): Jon Hein’s nightmare is about to be immortalized on the cover of a comic book.
DC Comics artist and Stern Show superfan Jim Lee revealed Hit ‘Em With the Hein will appear on one of the covers of an upcoming issue of “Suicide Squad.” He posted a “partial sneak peek” to Instagram on Saturday, showing villainess Harley Quinn with the Jason Kaplan-propelled catchphrase scrawled across her form-fitting T-shirt.
This isn’t the first time Hit ‘Em With the Hein has reared its head outside the Stern Show universe: MLB announcers, porn stars, and even sandwich makers have recently paid homage to the phrase.
Actress Margot Robbie plays Harley in the big screen adaptation of “Suicide Squad,” hitting theaters on Friday. We can only hope she wears a Hit ’em With the Hein tee to the film’s premiere.
