VIDEO: ‘Walking Dead’ Season 7 Trailer and Poster Tease Negan’s Master Plan

AMC's hit zombie drama returns Sunday Oct. 23

Walkers and tigers and barbed wire-wrapped baseball bats, oh my!

AMC dropped the first trailer (above) for Season 7 of “The Walking Dead” on Wednesday, as well as ominous concept art (below) teasing the big bad’s dastardly plan.

For those who somehow forgot, last season ended on a brutal cliffhanger – Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) captured the show’s plucky band of protagonists and bashed (at least) one of their heads in with Lucille, his bat.

The trailer doesn’t reveal which survivor went on the hot date with Lucille, but it teases several other new things to come on Season 7, including Morgan (Lennie James) mixing it up at The Kingdom and a new character named King Ezekiel (Khary Payton).

While the trailer also features dudes on horses with swords, a tiger, and more walkers than you can shake a stick at, there are no indications AMC plans on taking NBC’s advice by turning cable’s highest rated drama into a zombie procedural.

“The Walking Dead” returns for Season 7 on Sunday, Oct. 23 at 9 p.m on AMC.
