VIDEO: Calf Born With Two Faces on Kentucky Farm
Four-eyed “Lucky” survived a rare genetic mutation
September 23, 2016The McCubbin Farm in Cambellsville, Ky. received quite a surprise recently when Stan McCubbin noticed an unusual newborn calf.
“From a distance, I thought I had twins lying together,” Stan. “I saw two noses. I thought it was twins and then when I saw her, I was just completely blown away.”
Turns out, Stan was looking at a two-headed calf, and called the family over. “I said she was lucky to live, and our little five-year-old, Kenley, said ‘That’s her name — Lucky’,” explained Stan’s wife Brandy McCubbin. “She is lucky and we’re blessed to have this happen on our farm.”
Lucky was born with four eyes, the middle two of which do not function. While Lucky can stand up, walking proves problematic and she ends up simply going in circles. Most genetically mutated calves are stillborn, so Lucky truly earned her name. According to the McCubbins, Lucky has received her share of fans, with several folks stopping by McCubbin Farm for a visit.
