VIDEO: Go Behind the Scenes With ‘Saturday Night Live’ FX Team
See how the “SNL” crew adds state-of-the-art special effects in 12 hours or less
April 27, 2017Most “Saturday Night Live” sketches are indeed live, but NBC’s iconic late-night series often sprinkles in taped bits and digital shorts, as well. In those instances, the show’s post-production team sometimes gets a short window to add special effects and visual flourishes to the pre-recorded segments before they air.
“SNL” published a video to YouTube this week offering a behind-the-scenes look at how their visual effects are applied, including a glimpse at how Pete Davidson shrunk into his Turtle Shirt on a recent episode hosted by Jimmy Fallon. According to the video, the turnaround time is lightning fast—often as short as 12 hours.
