AUDIO: Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach and Robert Finley Release New Song ‘Bang Bang’

Song will appear on duo's upcoming soundtrack for the graphic novel “Murder Ballads”

Black Keys’ frontman Dan Auerbach and soul musician Robert Finley have just dropped “Bang Bang,” a wicked new collaboration from an upcoming soundtrack for a graphic novel.

Described by Rolling Stone as a “brash picture” of criminal exploits over “a sinister blues-rock shuffle of prickly guitars, slick piano, and boozy horns,” the track (above) is one of four songs the duo composed as a companion for “Murder Ballads,” a graphic novel from Gabe Soria about a struggling music man who takes desperate measures to save his record label.

Auerbach, whose Black Keys put on a two-hour concert event for SiriusXM in 2014 and also performed that same year at Howard Stern’s Birthday Bash, spoke to Rolling Stone about his interest in the project. “Gabe Soria is a good friend of mine so it was great to hear his concept for the project and to try and write songs that way,” he said. “And working with Robert Finley was incredible. He’s the greatest living soul singer as far as I’m concerned.”

Their collaborations for the “Murder Ballads” soundtrack, which reportedly also includes a cover of Lead Belly’s “In the Pines,” will be pressed on 10-inch vinyl and included in $200 special edition of the graphic novel, which can be pre-ordered now.
