VIDEO: George Clooney-Directed ‘Suburbicon’ Drops Official Trailer

Matt Damon, Julianne Moore, and Oscar Isaac star in the upcoming dark comedy

July 27, 2017

There’s humor and violence aplenty in the official trailer for “Suburbicon,” a George Clooney-directed dark comedy about a neighborhood rattled by a deadly home invasion.

Matt Damon stars as Gardner Lodge, a pencil-pushing father and husband who snaps after getting targeted by the mob. Clooney co-wrote the script with Joel and Ethan Coen (“Fargo”), and like many Coen brother crime stories this one zeroes in on the disturbing underbelly of a small, otherwise quiet town.

Clooney, a two-time Oscar winner and one-time Stern Show mystery guest, became a household name in the 1990s during his long tenure on “ER,” but didn’t direct his first feature until 2002’s “Confessions of a Dangerous Mind.” He has starred in several Coen brothers films throughout his career (“O Brother Where Art Thou?,” “Burn After Reading,” “Intolerable Cruelty,” and “Hail, Caesar!”), but this marks his first time directing one.

Julianne Moore, Oscar Isaac, and Josh Brolin co-star alongside Damon in “Suburbicon,” which debuts at the 2017 Venice Film Festival and hits theaters Oct. 27. Check out the official trailer (above).
