VIDEO: Axl Rose and Billy Joel Cover AC/DC’s ‘Highway to Hell’

Guns N' Roses frontman joins the Piano Man for two songs during a recent concert

Guns N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose made a surprise appearance on Friday at a Billy Joel concert at Target Field in Minneapolis. The two performed multiple songs together, including a cover of AC/DC’s “Highway to Hell.”

It all started when Billy strapped on a guitar, walked up to the mic, and told his concertgoers, “We need a frontman. I’m a piano player.” Sure enough, Axl was waiting in the wings backstage. The crowd roared as Axl sang lead vocals on the legendary AC/DC song (above) while Billy played its infamous riff on guitar.

“Highway to Hell” wasn’t the musicians’ only collaboration of the night. Axl also helped out on Billy’s 1978 classic “Big Shot.” Check out footage from that collaboration (below).

This isn’t the first time the Piano Man and the Guns N’ Roses frontman have joined forces. The two shared the stage during another Joel concert earlier this year at Los Angeles’ Dodger Stadium, reportedly playing the same two songs.

Axl rocked Minneapolis again this weekend as GNR’s “Not in This Lifetime…” world tour passed through town. Earlier this month the band also performed an exclusive concert for SiriusXM subscribers at the legendary Apollo Theater in Harlem. Two GNR super fans even competed live on the Howard Stern Show to win tickets to the event. See video of the grueling, butt-pounding, head-to-head competition here.
