Aspiring reality stars are literally dying to get on TV in the first trailer for “The Show,” an upcoming thriller starring Josh Duhamel, James Franco, and Famke Janssen.

Directed by and co-starring Giancarlo Esposito—who played meth kingpin Gus Fring on “Breaking Bad”—the film follows a reality TV host (Duhamel) who turns an on-camera tragedy into a compelling if not polarizing opportunity.

The official trailer (above) begins as his character hosts a “Bachelor”-esque finale that gets marred by a scorned contestant with a gun. Duhamel’s host-turned-hero soon comes up with a new idea for a show—one on which multiple contestants commit suicide and the audience votes to give a cash prize to one of the grieving families.

Franco, appearing briefly in the trailer as a morning news host, currently has several widely different projects in play, including a horror-heist flick (“The Vault”), a HBO porn drama (“The Deuce”), and a biopic about a cult-film director (“The Disaster Artist”). When Franco’s friend, frequent collaborator, and “Disaster Artist” co-star Seth Rogen returned to the Stern Show in June, he told Howard all about Franco’s acting abilities. Listen to a clip from his conversation with Howard (below).

“The Show” hits theaters and on demand on Sept. 15. Check out the trailer (above).
