Marvel-Netflix's latest superhero series debuts later this year

August 21, 2017

At the end of its newly released superhero team-up series “The Defenders,” Netflix dropped a teaser for its next Marvel offering: “The Punisher.”

Jon Bernthal (“The Walking Dead,” “Wind River”) made his debut as Frank Castle—a.k.a. the Punisher—on Season 2 of “Daredevil.” Now, he’s back with his very own standalone series. In the teaser (above), we see the murderous vigilante chiseling his iconic logo into cement with a sledgehammer while offering ominous voiceover narration.

“Memories, they never hurt me,” Castle says. “The past is more than memories. It’s the devil you sold your soul to. He’s coming. He’s coming to collect.”

While the plot for the season is only hinted at, audiences do get quick glimpses of his tragic backstory as well as violent imagery of bad guys getting shotgun blasts to the face.

“The Punisher,” co-starring Deborah Ann Woll (“Daredevil”), Ben Barnes, and Billy Russo, debuts in 2017. Watch “Demolition,” the first teaser (above).
