If you thought Sir Paul McCartney was the only music legend lending his talents to the Foo Fighters’ forthcoming album, you thought wrong.

After teasing a collaboration with a mystery pop star for months, Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl has revealed his band enlisted the help of Justin Timberlake on its “Concrete and Gold” LP. The collaboration came to fruition after the A-list entertainer befriended the band while both were recording at Los Angeles’ EastWest Studios, according to Dave’s recounting.

“We’d drink whiskey in the parking lot,” Dave told Rolling Stone. “He was really, really cool. Then the night before his last day, he says, ‘Can I sing on your record? I don’t want to push it, but – I just want to be able to tell my friends.'”

Foo Fighters aren’t the only Stern Show guests Justin has sang alongside in recent years, either. The “Suit & Tie” singer also shared the stage with country music phenom Chris Stapleton at the 2015 Country Music Awards. During his recent visit to the Stern Show, Chris told Howard the plan to perform together happened after Chris got a call from Justin’s wife, actress Jessica Biel, inviting him to play at Timberlake’s upcoming birthday party. “It was more of a, kind of a, ‘Hey, come out and hang out and play a little bit,'” Chris explained.

As previously reported, Sir Paul McCartney also helps out on “Concrete and Gold,” with the beloved Beatle and repeat Stern Show guest playing the drums on one of the album’s tracks.

Foo Fighter’s new album, the band’s ninth, hits shelves Sept. 15. Pre-order it here and watch the video for the single “The Sky Is a Neighborhood” (below).
