Kevin Spacey is buried in prosthesis and swimming in riches as the miserly oil tycoon John Paul Getty in “All the Money in the World,” Ridley Scott’s upcoming true-crime thriller about the 1973 kidnapping of Getty’s 16-year-old grandson, John Paul Getty III (Charlie Plummer).

“To be a Getty is an extraordinary thing,” Plummer says in the newly released trailer (above) as the Zombies’ “Time of the Season” picks up steam. “My grandfather wasn’t just the richest man in the world. He was the richest man in the history of the world.”

What begins with a montage of luxuriousness and world travel soon turns sour, however, as the youngest Getty is snatched up abroad. His mother (Michelle Williams) is soon fielding phone calls from foreign kidnappers demanding a $17 million ransom. She eventually teams up with one of Getty’s advisors (Stern Show veteran Mark Wahlberg), who is determined to help her recover her son. And that might be the only way to get him back, too, as the trailer ends with Spacey revealing to the world that he won’t give the kidnappers a single penny.

Mark and his brother Donnie Wahlberg have visited the Stern Show multiple times over the years, including in 2012 when Mark walked Howard through the highs and lows of his prestigious Hollywood career.

“All the Money in the World,” also starring Timothy Hutton, Romain Duris, and Andrew Buchan, opens Dec. 8.
