Billy Corgan has dropped the official trailer for “Pillbox,” a silent short he wrote and provided the music for which premieres next month in London, Chicago, New York, and Los Angeles.

The minute-long trailer (above) outlines a story of a soldier who leaves his love and his family to fight in the trenches of World War I. The footage starts off in black-and-white, but after the soldier gets gassed with chemical weapons his world—or whichever one he’s transported to—comes to life with color. That’s where things get a bit wacky. From a blue-faced ninja with claws to a little man with horns, the soldier soon discovers things even more absurd than war.

In addition to writing “Pillbox,” the Smashing Pumpkins frontman co-directed the short film with Linda Strawberry. Corgan’s upcoming Rick Rubin-produced solo album “Ogilala” will serve as the film’s soundtrack.

In August the former Stern Show guest dropped “Aeronaut,” a new song from “Ogilala,” and announced an upcoming tour. He also revealed the album will be released under a new name—William Patrick Corgan.

“Ogilala” hits shelves Oct. 13. Get “Pillbox” screening information and pre-order tickets—which go on sale Friday—here.
