Wes Anderson’s stop-motion animated, dystopian dog film hits theaters in March

Fox Searchlight has unleashed the first trailer for the stop-motion animated adventure-comedy “Isle of Dogs,” Wes Anderson’s first film since 2014’s “The Grand Budapest Hotel.”
Set in Megasaki City—a dystopian Japanese metropolis still reeling from an outbreak of dog flu—the film follows 12-year-old Atari Kobayashi who travels to the canine-filled Trash Island in search of Spot, his former pet and bodyguard. Atari’s journey won’t be easy, but the trailer (above) shows him befriending a pack of mongrel dogs who seem willing to assist.
The film’s voice cast is crowded with A-list talent, including Edward Norton, Jeff Goldblum, Frances McDormand, Tilda Swinton, “Ray Donovan” star Liev Schreiber, Courtney B. Vance, Harvey Keitel, Stern Show veterans Bryan Cranston, Scarlett Johansson, and Bill Murray, and even Yoko Ono.
Bill and Scarlett have, of course, worked together previously on projects set in Japan, starring opposite each other in Sofia Coppola’s Oscar-winning indie dramedy “Lost in Translation.” When Scarlett made her Stern Show debut earlier this year she told Howard all about the experience, as well as working alongside Bill.
