On Tuesday night Madonna expressed herself like never before.

The music icon, multi-hyphenate entertainer, and 2015 Stern Show guest made her stand-up comedy debut at New York City’s Comedy Cellar, delivering a surprise set for a completely unprepared audience.

Madonna also brought fellow Stern Show veteran Amy Schumer onto the stage with her and the two did an act together. She and Schumer have performed together previously at Madison Square Garden, but those engagements involved Madonna putting on a concert before or after Amy’s set—not a comedy show.

Madonna later shared pictures of her big stand-up debut on Instagram (below), with a caption reading “What a thrill. Finally busted my cherry. Thank you Amy!”

Of course, when the Material Girl made her Stern Show debut in 2015, she and Howard discussed all sorts of firsts, including her first VMAs performance, her first days in New York, and her first time getting fired for squirting jelly. Listen to Madonna and Howard’s entire legendary interview (below).

In addition to Madonna and Amy, the Comedy Cellar audience was reportedly treated to several other surprise appearances on Tuesday night, too, including sets from comedy legends and past Stern Show guests Jon Stewart, Louis C.K., and Aziz Ansari, as well as Pete Holmes of HBO’s “Crashing.”

We’d like to thank @nyccomedycellar for taking a chance on our new act
