Joel McHale just landed another marquee Netflix project.
The actor, talk show host, and past Stern Show guest has signed on for “The Joel McHale Show with Joel McHale,” a weekly, 13-episode unscripted series featuring guests, sketches, video clips, and plenty of pop culture skewering, according to reports.
Netflix announced the big news on Friday, exactly one week before the premiere of its National Lampoon biopic “A Futile and Stupid Gesture,” starring Will Forte as the magazine’s co-founder Doug Kenney and McHale as comedy legend Chevy Chase.
McHale and Chase have worked together in real life, sharing the spotlight for several seasons on the NBC sitcom “Community.” When McHale visited the Stern Show in 2013, he told Howard about the time he accidentally separated Chevy’s shoulder after punching him as hard as he could during a boxing scene.
“The Joel McHale Show with Joel McHale” debuts Feb. 18. Check out a promo for the series (above). “A Futile and Stupid Gesture,” meanwhile, also starring Jackie Tohn as Gilda Radner and Jon Daly as Bill Murray, debuts Jan. 26. Watch the trailer (below).
