VIDEO: Jane Fonda Turns Her Friends Onto ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ in New ‘Book Club’ Trailer

Romantic comedy co-stars Diane Keaton, Mary Steenburgen and Candice Bergen

March 2, 2018

Jane Fonda and her friends reignite the fires in their loins by reading a trashy romance novel in “Book Club,” a sex-charged comedy hitting theaters this May.

The official trailer (above) begins when Jane’s character walks into a room with several copies of “Fifty Shades of Grey” and hands them out to her friends, played by Candice Bergen, Diane Keaton, Mary Steenburgen.

“From what I hear this book is quite stimulating,” Jane says with a wink.

After flipping through the pages of the kink-filled novel, the four actresses—who have enough Oscars and Emmys between them to open up a Hollywood museum—find themselves hungry for some hanky-panky of their own. This leads to a bevy of jokes about breast implants, at-home bondage, online dating, and also the consequences of spiking someone’s drink with Viagra. The ladies’ reawakened libidos also pave the way for possible romantic encounters with characters played by Craig T. Nelson, Richard Dreyfuss, Andy Garcia, and Don Johnson, whose daughter Dakota Johnson actually starred in all three “Fifty Shade of Grey” films.

Fonda, who seemingly plays the film’s most sexually aggressive woman, made her Stern Show debut in January and shared several scandalous stories with Howard, including separate skinny dipping adventures with actress Greta Garbo and pop icon Michael Jackson. Listen to Jane and her “Grace and Frankie” co-star Lily Tomlin’s full interview with Howard here.

“Book Club” opens May 18. Watch the official trailer (above). In the meantime, catch Jane on Sunday presenting at the 2018 Oscars.
