AUDIO: James Taylor Joins Charlie Puth on New Single ‘Change’
The socially conscience song asks "Why can't we just get along?"
March 28, 2018Charlie Puth dropped a new socially-conscious single this week titled “Change” and enlisted the help of Rock and Roll Hall of Famer and Stern Show regular James Taylor. In the song (above), Taylor and Puth urge listeners to be themselves and not judge others, singing, “What a waste it would be to deny somebody of a chance to be theirselves,” while the chorus asks the question, “Why can’t we just get along?”
The single dropped just days after the nationwide March for Our Lives rallies and Puth tweeted on Monday that “Change” is “dedicated to all of the Parkland students, any lives lost to senseless gun violence, and the world.”
Puth originally rose to fame on YouTube for his emotional lyrics and soothing vocals. Stern Show fans might also remember him for an ode to Robin Quivers he recorded back in 2015. James Taylor, meanwhile, has performed several times on the Stern Show throughout the years, including during an epic two-hour in-studio sit-down with Howard in 2015.
“Change” is one of many collaborative songs from Puth’s upcoming album, “Voicenotes,” named after Apple’s Voice Memo app. The album is due out in May.
