Billie Joe Armstrong’s latest side project the Longshot has dropped its debut EP.

The Green Day frontman, Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, and Stern Show veteran’s new band released three tracks on Thursday, “Taxi Driver,” “Chasing a Ghost,” and “Love is for Losers,” the latter of which will also be the name of the band’s upcoming full-length album.

Despite unleashing an official Instagram account in February, the Longshot remains shrouded in mystery. Even after releasing three songs, it’s unclear who’s playing on the tracks alongside Billie Joe. Regardless, the music has been well received.

The Longshot isn’t Billie Joe’s only side project grabbing recent headlines, either. Last year the Armstrongs—a supergroup featuring Billie, his son Joey from the band SWMRS, and an unrelated Tim Armstrong from Operation Ivy and Rancid—released an original track and donated the proceeds to a good cause. Earlier this year, Billie Joe also unveiled a different side project featuring Green Day’s Mike Dirnt called the Coverups. The band has played a few shows in the Pacific Northwest, covering rock icons like David Bowie and Tom Petty, to name a few.

Billie Joe and his Green Day bandmates last joined the Stern Show back in 2016 ahead of their new album “Revolution Radio.” In addition to sitting with Howard for a wide-ranging conversation, the band put on a mini-concert in the studio, performing both new songs and some of their greatest hits.

The Longshot’s full-length album Love Is for Losers is “coming eventually sooner or later. Probably sooner,” according to the band’s Instagram page. In the meanwhile, listen to “Taxi Driver” (above) and “Love is for Losers” and “Chasing a Ghost” (below).
