VIDEO: ‘Stranger Things’ Drops Spooky Teaser as Season 3 Begins Production

Netflix offers upside down, behind-the-scenes look at the sci-fi series’ next installment

April 27, 2018

“Stranger Things 3” has officially kicked off production and to honor the occasion Netflix released a behind-the-scenes glimpse at cast and crew gearing up for the new season.

Shot on April 20 and released on Friday, the short black & white clip (above) sets the season’s first table read to the same kind of spooky score the Duffer Brothers use to perfection on their Emmy-winning show. Toward the end, the video teaser even goes upside down.

While the preview doesn’t reveal anything specific in terms of “Stranger Things 3” plot details, it does highlight franchise veterans Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Millie Bobby Brown, and Natalia Dyer, among others. It also features last season’s young breakout star Priah Ferguson, who delivers the promo’s only line.

“Get out of here, nerds!” she tells the camera (above) as the teaser ends.

The teaser also makes mention of several “Stranger Things” newcomers, including Cary Elwes, Jake Busey, and Maya Hawke, the daughter of Ethan Hawke and Stern Show veteran Uma Thurman. According to reports, Maya has been cast as Robin, “an alternative girl,” while Busey will play a local journalist and Elwes will play the sleazy mayor of Hawkins.
