VIDEO: Paul Rudd and Laurence Fishburne Compare Sizes in ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’ Official Trailer

Marvel's upcoming superhero sequel opens July 7

Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly face off against a mysterious villain who can walk through walls in the official trailer for “Ant-Man and the Wasp,” Marvel’s upcoming superhero sequel about a crime-fighting couple who can shrink down to the size of insects.

The newly released trailer—Marvel’s first since this past weekend’s release of “Avengers: Infinity War,” lauded by critics and Stern Show staffers alike—begins with Scott Lang (Rudd), a.k.a. Ant-Man, getting a lecture from his daughter on the importance of having a partner in crime fighting. It’s intercut with an action montage of an oversized Ant-Man trying to foil a robbery alongside his girlfriend Hope van Dyne (Lilly), whose transformation into the Wasp was teased at the end of the first film and is finally seen here in all her flying, stinging glory.

The new trailer also offers a first glimpse of the film’s villain, Ghost (“Ready Player One” and “Tomb Raider” star Hannah John-Kamen), a high-tech bad gal who can somehow phase through walls. Additionally, there are quite a few new jokes and gags, including a debate between Ant-Man and retired size-shifter Goliath (Laurence Fishburne) over who is bigger where it counts as well as a quick shot of a giant ant rocking out on the drums.

When Rudd visited the Stern Show in 2015 shortly after the release of the original “Ant-Man,” the actor spoke to Howard all about making the film and what it’s like to play a small superhero on the big screen. He also shared his story of working alongside Marvel legend Stan Lee. “[I]t’s like the president … he’s the guy,” Paul explained to Howard.

“Ant-Man and The Wasp,” co-starring Michael Douglas, Michael Peña, Walton Goggins, and Michelle Pfeiffer, buzzes into theaters July 6. Watch the trailer (above).
