Beck’s Remix of U2’s ‘Love Is Bigger Than Anything in Its Way’ Gets an Animated Music Video
Broken Fingaz Crew-directed clip features dancing skeletons and a clay man's face melting
July 13, 2018In May, U2 delivered an acoustic performance of “Love Is Bigger Than Anything in Its Way” live from Jack White’s Nashville studios. In June, the band joined forces with Beck to release a new remix of the single. Now, the remix has been immortalized in an animated music video.
Directed by Broken Fingaz Crew—the Israeli art collective behind another U2 music video in “Get Out of Your Own Way”—the clip for the Beck remix (above) follows a heartbroken clay man preparing to reenter the world following the loss of a loved one. Seamlessly blending claymation with more traditional animation styles, the video features several striking visuals and transitions, from the man’s face melting in a mirror to a powerful finale in which he musters up the courage to literally step outside his own head.
“Love Is Bigger Than Anything in Its Way” hails from “Songs of Experience,” the 2017 album Bono and The Edge discussed with Howard during their December visit. While in the studio, the renowned rockers also performed several hits and opened up about the early ups and downs of their prolific career.
U2 is gearing up for the European leg of their “Experience + Innocence” tour, but as Stern Show fans may remember the band recently hit pause on the North American leg of its world tour to play an exclusive concert for SiriusXM subscribers at the world-famous Apollo Theater. They rocked the house with an 18-song set and frontman Bono at one point even offered up a Stern Show shout-out. “This is for you Howard Stern,” he said during the band’s performance of “Vertigo.”
