Stern Show veterans James Franco and Maggie Gyllenhaal are a few years older and quite a bit more fashionable on Season 2 of HBO’s acclaimed drama “The Deuce,” following the rough-and-tumble origins of New York City’s Times Square porn industry.

A short teaser dropped Monday (above) for the show’s sophomore season and creators David Simon and George Pelecanos have hit the fast-forward button on their story, skipping ahead five years to 1977 when the city’s porn industry has grown more garish and lurid than ever.

“Everything has changed,” Maggie’s character Candy explains over images of sex, drugs, and disco balls. “It’s not like how it was when it started. It’s like a free world.”

Meanwhile, James’ twin brother characters Frankie and Vincent Martino have also undergone changes in between seasons. Now, they’re finally rocking different haircuts, making it a bit easier to tell the two apart.

Of course, when James brought director Tommy Wiseau into the Stern Show studio last December to discuss “The Disaster Artist,” it was equally difficult for listeners to tell the two of them apart while James dazzled everyone with his spot-on impression of the cult-adored filmmaker. “The Deuce,” co-starring Gary Carr, Gbenga Akinnagbe, Margarita Levieva, Method Man, Ralph Macchio, and Lawrence Gilliard Jr. returns to HBO for Season 2 on Sunday, Sept. 9.
