Actress and model’s 1980s-set indie romance cruises into theaters soon

August 17, 2018

Emily Ratajkowski stars as a sweet Jewish girl from Long Island who falls for a bad boy from the wrong side of the tracks in the upcoming indie romance “Cruise.”

Set in the Summer of 1987, the film’s newly released trailer (above) follows Gio (Spencer Boldman), a young Italian American from Queens who loves his family but loves fast cars and fast women even more. Everything changes, however, after he falls for Jessica (Ratajkowski), a well-to-do Long Island girl looking for an adventurous summer fling.

It’s been a big year for Ratajkowski, who got her start as a model and later found fame appearing in two high-profile music videos, Robin Thicke and Pharrell’s “Blurred Lines” and Maroon 5’s “Love Somebody.” In addition to “Cruise,” Emily’s 2018 starring roles include alongside Amy Schumer in the romantic comedy “I Feel Pretty” and opposite Natalie Dormer (“Game of Thrones”) in the horror flick “In Darkness.”

“Cruise” is written and directed by Robert D. Siegel, the screenwriter behind Patton Oswalt’s “Big Fan” and Mickey Rourke and Marisa Tomei’s “The Wrestler.” The film co-stars Kathrine Narducci, Sebastian Maniscalco, Noah Robbins, and Gino Cafarelli. Watch the trailer (above).
