VIDEO: Paul Giamatti and Kathryn Hahn Hope to Get Pregnant in ‘Private Life’ Trailer

Netflix drama also stars Stern Show celebrity superfan Molly Shannon

Paul Giamatti must just really like privacy.

The Oscar-winning actor and repeat Stern Show guest, who famously portrayed Pig Vomit in Howard’s 1997 film “Private Parts” and later appeared as a soldier in “Saving Private Ryan,” will soon be starring in Netflix’s original film “Private Life.”

The digital streaming giant recently dropped a trailer for the October drama, in which Paul and Kathryn Hahn play Richard and Rachel, an aging couple desperate to conceive a child. After getting it done the old-fashioned way doesn’t work, Rachel undergoes a series of fertility treatments, despite being conflicted about child rearing in the first place.

“Having a baby is an immoral act,” Hahn’s character declares (above). “Overpopulation, climate change, the rise of neo-fascism.”

The process eventually begins to put a strain on Rachel and Richard’s relationship as well as those around them, including a character played by “Saturday Night Live” veteran and Stern Show celebrity superfan Molly Shannon.

“They’re like fertility junkies!” her character exclaims at one point.

“Private Life” was written and directed by Tamara Jenkins (“The Savages”). In addition to Shannon, Hahn, and Giamatti—who also currently stars opposite Damian Lewis (“Homeland”) and Maggie Siff (“Sons of Anarchy”) on Showtime’s “Billions”—the film features John Carroll Lynch, Kayli Carter, and Emily Robinson.

“Private Life” arrives Oct. 5 on Netflix. Watch the official trailer (above).
