VIDEO: Robin Wright Makes a Bold Proclamation in New ‘House of Cards’ Trailer

Netflix’s critically acclaimed political drama returns Nov. 2 for its sixth and final season

September 27, 2018

Robin Wright’s character President Claire Underwood makes a bold proclamation in the latest trailer for Season 6 of Netflix’s Emmy-winning political drama “House of Cards.”

“The reign of middle-aged white man is over,” her character says (above) amid a melodramatic montage of backstabbing, power-grabbing, extortion, and chicanery.

As established previously, this season begins after Claire’s husband Frank Underwood (Kevin Spacey) has died. While the last trailer essentially saw her spitting on Frank’s grave, this one focuses on her scheming from within the Oval Office.

It also sees her addressing the American people and revealing even more about what precisely became of her husband. “My first 100 days as president have been difficult,” she says (above). “I lost my husband. We were about to celebrate 30 years together. Here’s the thing … whatever Francis told you in the last five years, don’t believe a word of it.”

In addition to offering new clues about Spacey’s demise, the new trailer gives some screen time to series newcomers Diane Lane and Greg Kinnear, cast as siblings with ties to the Underwood family. They’ll join veteran cast members Michael Kelly, Patricia Clarkson, Jayne Atkinson, and Constance Zimmer, among others.

“House of Cards” Season 6 debuts Nov. 2 on Netflix. Watch the new trailer (above) and check out more of what’s coming to TV this fall here.
