VIDEO: J.K. Simmons Faces Off Against a J.K Simmons From Another Dimension in ‘Counterpart’ Season 2 Trailer
Starz’s spy-filled sci-fi thriller returns on Dec. 9

J.K. Simmons is quite literally his own worst enemy on Starz’s science-fiction filled spy thriller “Counterpart,” returning for a sophomore season in December.
The “Whiplash” actor and Stern Show veteran stars as two different versions of the same guy: Howard Alpha, a mild-mannered working stiff whose office houses a portal to another dimension, and Howard Prime, an extra-dimensional spy.
As the newly released trailer for Season 2 begins (above), Howard Alpha has been captured, brought over to the other dimension, and is being held prisoner in a mysterious black site. Howard Prime, meanwhile, has assumed his doppelgänger’s identity and is living with Alpha’s wife. With the trans-dimensional portal closed for the time being, both will now have to deal with the consequences of the choices the other has made.
Simmons, who also appears in this fall’s Gary Hart biopic “The Front Runner,” stars on “Counterpart” alongside Olivia Williams, Harry Lloyd, Nazanin Boniadi, Sara Serraiocco, Nicholas Pinnock, and Betty Gabriel.
