Warner Bros. made a splash on Friday with the release of an extra-long “Aquaman” trailer.

Clocking in at over five minutes, the new clip begins with Arthur Curry (“Game of Thrones” star Jason Momoa), a.k.a. Aquaman, narrating his own conception as his lighthouse keeper father (Temuera Morrison) and undersea Queen mother (Nicole Kidman) share a forbidden love and beget a super-powered son.

All grown up now, and fresh off his team-up with the Justice League, the DC Comics superhero finds a new ally in Mera (Amber Heard). Together the two track down his trusty trident (cracking a pee joke in the process), flee from a deadly supervillain named Black Manta (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II), and try to save billions of lives in the process.

Arthur and Mera also explore the underwater city of Atlantis where they find themselves embroiled in a massive undersea battle featuring armored sharks, giant crabs, and what seem to be laser-outfitted sting rays. Indeed, the trailer has fast chases and furious action aplenty, which makes sense considering “Aquaman” is helmed by “Furious 7” filmmaker James Wan.

“Aquaman,” co-starring Djimon Hounsou, Willem Dafoe, Dolph Lundgren, and Patrick Wilson, opens Dec. 21 in theaters. Watch the latest trailer (above).
