Gigantic creatures have overtaken the Earth and are gearing up for an epic showdown in “Godzilla: King of the Monsters,” and humanity’s fate seemingly hangs in the balance.

The latest clip for the upcoming action movie begins with “Stranger Things” star Millie Bobby Brown operating a shortwave radio. She’s desperate to get in touch with other human survivors struggling to co-exist with the massive monsters laying waste to civilization.

“Hello, is anyone there?” her character asks (above). “I’m trying to reach — ”

She never finishes the sentence thanks to a horrible noise that forces her to cover her ears. Its origins remain vague, but there’s no doubt Godzilla and his enemies Mothra, Rodan, and King Ghidorah are somehow involved. These so-called Titans are waging war against each other for control of the globe and if mankind has any hope of surviving, it’s going to need Godzilla to win.

Brown stars opposite Vera Farmiga, Ken Watanabe, Kyle Chandler, Sally Hawkins, and “Silicon Valley’s” Thomas Middleditch, among others. Horror maestro Michael Dougherty (“Krampus,” “Trick ‘r Treat”) directed and co-wrote “Godzilla: King of the Monsters,” a sequel to 2014’s “Godzilla” and 2017’s “Kong: Skull Island.”

“Godzilla: King of the Monsters” smashes into theaters May 31. Watch the new trailer (above).
