Young “Stranger Things” heroine Millie Bobby Brown must contend with deadly creatures of an entirely different sort in “Godzilla: King of the Monsters,” an upcoming action flick set in the same world as Bryan Cranston’s 2014 film “Godzilla” and fellow Stern Show veterans John Goodman and Samuel L. Jackson’s recent blockbuster “Kong: Skull Island.”

The official trailer for “Godzilla: King of the Monsters” (above) debuted this past weekend at San Diego Comic-Con and despite being scored with Claude Debussy’s peaceful “Clair de Lune,” the clip is chock-full of destruction. It begins with Millie Bobby’s character Madison fleeing a city-leveling disaster as her scientist mother (“Bates Motel’s” Vera Farmiga) delivers an address to the world about humanity’s likely fate at the hands of these newly awakened “titans,” some of which include Mothra, Rodan, and the three-headed King Ghidorah.

Millie Bobby, who earned multiple Emmy nominations battling different types of beasts on Netflix’s “Stranger Things,” isn’t the film’s only cast member well schooled in dealing with freaky creatures. “King of the Monsters” also co-stars franchise veterans Kyle Chandler, Thomas Middleditch, Ken Watanabe, and Sally Hawkins, the latter of whom was also recently nominated for an Oscar after starring opposite a fish creature in Guillermo del Toro’s “The Shape of Water.”

“Godzilla: King of the Monsters,” directed by Michael Dougherty (“Krampus”), opens May 31, 2019. Watch the official trailer (above).
