VIDEO: Jonah Hill and Emma Stone Have a Silent Showdown in Teaser for Netflix’s ‘Maniac’

Cary Fukunaga-directed limited series co-stars Sally Field and Justin Theroux

Stern Show celebrity superfan Jonah Hill and “La La Land” Oscar-winner Emma Stone engage in a silent showdown in the first look at Netflix’s “Maniac,” a new show from “True Detective” director Cary Fukunaga.

The trailer for the 10-episode limited series begins with the actors staring blankly at each other from opposite ends of a table in a sterile room. “Once you begin to appreciate the structure of the mind there’s no reason to believe that anything about us can’t be changed,” a narrator’s voice offers (above) just before the lights begin flickering between red, green, and blue. “The mind can be solved.”

The colorful teaser is thin on plot, but a recent synopsis explains Jonah and Emma play two unhappy strangers volunteering for a mysterious pharmaceutical trial they hope might “fix” their personalities. They endure a radical treatment designed by a Dr. James K. Manterlay (Justin Theroux), however nothing goes as planned.

When Jonah visited the Stern Show most recently, the multi-talented entertainer opened up to Howard and his listeners about a variety of subjects, including officiating the wedding between model Behati Prinsloo and fellow Stern Show veteran Adam Levine and getting pranked by Leonardo DiCaprio during the filming of “The Wolf of Wall Street.” He also spoke about meeting staffer JD Harmeyer’s then-girlfriend just before hosting “Saturday Night Live.” Listen to Jonah’s conversation with the King of All Media (below).

“Maniac,” also featuring 2016 Stern Show guest Sally Field, debuts Sept. 21 on Netflix.
