VIDEO: Noomi Rapace Dodges Bullets, Kidnappers, and Even Rockets in 'Close' Trailer

Noomi Rapace plays a bodyguard and counter-terrorism expert tasked with protecting a rich, young heiress in “Close,” a female-led action film exploding onto Netflix Jan. 18.

Her character Sam, based on a real-life female bodyguard named Jacquie Davis, spends much of the trailer (above) dodging bullets, karate chops, and even rocket-propelled grenades as she tries ushering her client Zoe (Sophie Nélisse) to safety. Their survival involves more than just evading would-be kidnappers and assassins, however—if Noomi’s character has any shot of making it out alive she must also teach her young ward how to fight back.

Written and directed by Vicky Jewson, the high-octane thriller follows in the footsteps of several other recent female-driven action films, including Taraji P. Henson’s “Proud Mary,” Scarlett Johansson’s “Lucy,” Viola Davis’ “Widows,” and 2017 Stern Show guest Charlize Therons “Atomic Blonde.”
