VIDEO: Octavia Spencer Delivers Booze, Fun, and Maybe Murder in the Teen Horror Flick ‘Ma’

May thriller co-stars Diana Silvers (“Glass”) and repeat Stern Show guest Juliette Lewis

Octavia Spencer serves up booze, fun, and quite possibly murder in the upcoming teen thriller “Ma.”

The Oscar-winning actress may be best known for playing the hard-working heroine in films like “The Shape of Water,” “The Help,” and “Hidden Figures,” but in the trailer for her new movie she’s anything but. The clip begins after Maggie (“Glass’s” Diana Silvers), a local teen who just moved to town with her mom (2016 Stern Show guest Juliette Lewis), stops Spencer’s character Sue Ann outside a liquor store and begs her to buy alcohol for her and her new friends.

Not only does Sue Ann help out, but she invites them back to get drunk at her creepy house. “You guys wanna party like rock stars?” she asks them forebodingly.

The teens take her up on the offer, begin throwing regular parties in her basement, and even calling her “Ma,” but everything changes after they realize there’s more to Ma than meets the eye. The place of their dreams soon becomes something straight out of a twisted nightmare.

Directed by Tate Taylor (“The Help”) and produced by Blumhouse (“Get Out”), “Ma” co-stars Luke Evans, Missi Pyle, McKaley Miller, Corey Fogelmanis, Gianni Paolo, and Dante Brown. The film opens May 31 in theaters.
