Olivia Wilde pulls no punches in her upcoming indie thriller “A Vigilante,” in which she plays a tough-as-nails, formerly abused women who devotes her life to ridding the world of other domestic predators.

The actress and past Stern Show guest shared the trailer Thursday on social media along with a powerful message about her reasons for making the film. “This movie almost broke me,” she wrote on Instagram. “We made it for the survivors of domestic abuse. They educated me and I did my best to honor their courage.”

The terse trailer begins with 20 seconds of Wilde intensely beating the stuffing out of a heavy bag. She’s training to avenge survivors of domestic abuse, and before long she’s punching presumably vile men right in their throats.

Written and directed by Sarah Daggar-Nickson, “A Vigilante” co-stars Morgan Spector and Tonye Patano.

When Wilde made her Stern Show debut in 2016, the actress opened up about the many different types of roles she’s embraced and pursued throughout her career, including on HBO’s “Vinyl.” She also spoke to Howard about a phone call she received from President Obama, presenting at the Oscars, a run-in she had with late “SNL” great Chris Farley, and her relationship with Jason Sudeikis.
