Netflix kickstarted Mötley Crüe fans’ hearts on Tuesday with the debut trailer for “The Dirt,” an unflinching biopic about the notoriously hedonistic band’s rise to fame in the 1980s and the double-edged sword that is sex, drugs, and rock ‘n’ roll.

The clip begins with drummer Tommy Lee (rapper Machine Gun Kelly), bassist Nikki Sixx (“Pride and Prejudice and Zombies” star Douglas Booth), guitarist Mick Mars (“Game of Thrones” star Iwan Rheon), and frontman Vince Neil (“The Punisher’s” Daniel Webber) forming a band in Los Angeles. Their friends and family expect the band to fail, but their big riffs and rowdy antics soon make them legends at the Sunset Strip’s seediest clubs.

“If we want to knock people on their asses we gotta give them a show,” one band member exclaims in the trailer. “The fans, they’re dying for some anarchy. So, let’s give it to them.”

And indeed they do—in addition to Mötley Crüe’s biggest hits cranked up to volume 11, the trailer features pyrotechnics (on stage and off), drug overdoses, hotel room debauchery, and high-profile splits from celebrity spouses.

“Jackass” co-creator Jeff Tremaine directed “The Dirt” from a Rich Wilkes (“Airheads”) script based on Neil Strauss’s best-selling biography “The Dirt: Confessions of the World’s Most Notorious Rock Band.” The film co-stars Tony Cavalero as Ozzy Osbourne, Rebekah Graf as Heather Locklear, and Stern Show guest and “Saturday Night Live” standout Pete Davidson as Tom Zutaut, a stuffy-looking record exec who helped the band sell over 25 million albums.

“I work for Elektra records,” Pete’s character says after seeing them play just once. “Would you guys like a record deal?”

“The Dirt” drops March 22 on Netflix.
