The ultimate showdown for the Iron Throne is foreshadowed in the official trailer for the eighth and final season of HBO’s award-winning drama “Game of Thrones,” arriving next month.

The long-awaited clip begins with a breathless Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) running for her life through torch-lit corridors. “I know death,” she says in voiceover. “He’s got many faces. I look forward to seeing this one.”

Meanwhile, Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) presides over the Red Keep, the White Walkers are still invading from the north, Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) observes the flight of overhead dragons, and Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) and Jon Snow (Kit Harington) march their army toward what’s rumored to be an episode-long battle for control of Winterfell.

The two-minute teaser also features quick shots of several of the ensemble show’s co-stars, including Peter Dinklage, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Conleth Hill, and John Bradley, among many others, as their characters prepare to meet their fates.

“Game of Thrones” Season 8 debuts April 14 on HBO.
