Marvel has given fans another fresh look at “Avengers: Endgame,” the next chapter of its multibillion dollar superhero team-up franchise starring Stern Show veterans Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Bradley Cooper, Paul Rudd, and Jeremy Renner, among others. The studio released a new minute-long teaser on Tuesday, just as tickets went on sale for the April 26 film.
The trailer confirms Tony Stark (Downey Jr.), a.k.a. Iron Man, makes it back home at some point in “Endgame” after having been stranded lightyears away with Rocket Raccoon (Cooper) and Nebula (Karen Gillan) at the end of 2018’s “Avengers: Infinity War.” The fresh footage goes so far as to show RDJ sharing an emotional embrace with fellow Stern Show veteran Gwyneth Paltrow, who plays Pepper Potts, his onscreen love interest and a superpowered hero in her own right.
Additionally, the short clip teases Iron Man’s reunion with his original team of Avengers—Black Widow (Johansson), Captain America (Chris Evans), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Hawkeye (Renner), and the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo)—as they gear up for one last battle with the intergalactic supervillain Thanos (Josh Brolin).
“It’s not about how much we lost, it’s about how much we have left,” Downey Jr. tells his allies in the trailer. “We’re the Avengers. We gotta finish this.”
Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, the film also stars Brie Larson as Captain Marvel, Rudd as Ant-Man, and Don Cheadle as War Machine, to name just a few.
