Organized crime is no laughing matter for legendary funnyman Chris Rock in the Season 4 trailer for Noah Hawley’s “Fargo,” returning to FX in April.

The actor, comedian, and repeat Stern Show guest stars as crime boss Loy Cannon on the anthology crime-drama. Set this season in 1950s Kansas City, the story follows Loy as he attempts to broker peace with a nearby Italian crime family by trading sons with the rival gang’s leader.

“Italians, they’re the past. We’re the future. They just don’t know it yet,” Rock explains in the trailer (above) just before his character brandishes a knife and a smile.

Not every criminal in Kansas City agrees with his assessment. “We’re the goddamned Roman empire,” argues rival gangster Josto Fadda (Jason Schwartzman) amid a montage of machine guns, nuns, drugs, and cows aplenty.

“Fargo’s” fourth installment adds several new cast members to the mix, including “Dolittle” actress Jessie Buckley, indie rocker Andrew Bird, “Paddington’s” Ben Whishaw, and “Justified” star Timothy Olyphant, who plays a man in desperate need of a happy ending. “If a man’s pud need a tug, would this be the place for said tugging?” he asks near the trailer’s end.

“Fargo” Season 4 debuts Sunday, April 19 on FX.
