Claire Danes returns as a beleaguered spy accused of betraying her country in the latest trailer for the eighth and final season of “Homeland,” returning to Showtime in February.

The award-winning actress and repeat Stern Show guest once again stars opposite Mandy Patinkin and Beau Bridges on the acclaimed drama, which this season focuses on troubled C.I.A. officer Carrie Mathison (Danes) struggling to find peace after having recently spent time in a horrific Russian gulag.

It won’t be easy, however, considering the world has apparently “gone to Hell” since she left and some of her own colleagues are beginning to wonder whether she’s been compromised. As tensions escalate, she soon finds herself with U.S. soldiers pointing rifles at her head.

“No more about my loyalty. I did what had to be done,” Claire’s character eventually insists (above).

During her most recent Stern Show visit the actress opened up to Howard about a variety of subjects, including her first kiss with actor Jared Leto on the set of “My So-Called Life,” and surprised listeners by revealing she was just a few months away from giving birth to her second child, Rowan. Danes also spoke at length about what fans could expect from the final season of “Homeland.” Listen to what she had to say about the Emmy-winning show coming to an end (below).

“Homeland” Season 8 premieres Feb. 9 on Showtime.
