Chris Martin Dances With Aliens in Coldplay’s ‘Higher Power’ Music Video

Single serves as the band’s first new tune since 2019

June 8, 2021

Chris Martin is out of this world in the music video for Coldplay’s recent single “Higher Power.”

The Dave Meyers-directed clip begins with Martin wandering through a rust-covered wasteland on a strange planet filled with neon lights, robot dogs, and colorful aliens. The veteran rocker and repeat Stern Show guest eventually dances up a (lightning) storm alongside his new alien pals, played by members of South Korea’s Ambiguous Dance Company.

“The video is a metaphor for how, right now, we all feel alienated, far removed from our world, almost like we’re on an alien planet,” Meyers said in a statement. “And ultimately we find love in the streets and that euphoria shoots us off into the stratosphere of our own energy and higher power.”

Released in May, “Higher Power” is Coldplay’s first tune since the release of their 2019 album “Everyday Life.” Chris last joined the Stern Show in 2016, sitting down with Howard to discuss everything from headlining the Super Bowl 50 Halftime Show to his band’s latest EP. The talented musician also regaled listeners with a live, in-studio cover of another out-of-this-world classic, David Bowie’s “Life on Mars?” Watch the video (below).
